This resource allows students to learn about the human body- and many of them learn lots of new things! This is an easy-read sub plan that introduces you to the world of sports injuries- sprain, strain, bruise, or break. There is also a 2 page graphing exercise included. You can omit the graphing exercise to make this a 4 page read instead. There are also some fun diagrams included that students have to label after reading the text.
Do your students ever wonder what a strain is? Or maybe it's a sprain? What exactly is a contusion- or a bruise? And why is it black and blue? What types of "breaks" or fractures can bones have? Greenstick? Spiral? Hopefully not a compound fracture!
This sub plan is a useful tool to help encourage scientific literacy in reading, graphing, and making connections to the scientific world.
*Student packet option included to save paper!
Feel good knowing that your students will be well taken care of on those days that you are out- don't scramble for another sub plan! You can use this year after year!
Recommended for grades 8+
